Just One Policy:
The public shall be able to issue a VETO, directly to the government, via a petition gaining more than 2.5 million* signatures.
This "VETO order" will legally require them to immediately stop the described activity, or will nullify legislation.
If the government wishes to contest the order, it must arrange a national referendum on the issue.
* There are about 50 million registered voters in the UK (ONS). Five percent (5%) of this is 2.5 million.
This threshold figure is open to discussion.
veto (definition)
- the power of one party to forbid the actions or decisions of another party.
- a legal power to unilaterally stop an official action. (In the most typical case, a president or monarch vetoes a bill to stop it from becoming law.)
The British people need the right to veto any actions of government.
We can no longer tolerate our public-servants imposing rules and policies on us which we do not agree with, and which harm our country.
We employ the government to produce a single product - the rule of law.
But the government as a whole has not only failed to uphold the rights, laws, and customs of the British people, it is actively destroying them.
Britain is in serious trouble...
- The British government is treating The British people and our constitutional law with contempt.
- Successive governments have enacted policies that are widely unpopular and harmful.
- We will take peaceful actions to provide a real, meaningful solution to the problems we face.
- Ultimately, this is our responsibility. There is no one who can come to our rescue, but ourselves.
Make government accountable...
- Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
- The UK state has made itself effectively unaccountable to the public. It has given itself absolute power.
- This is the root cause of most of the problems we face.
- Being able to vote in elections does not give us enough control over the actions of politicians.
During the covid-19 years, government claimed the right to curtail fundamental human rights:
- The right to work, and earn a living.
- The right to travel.
- The right to assembly and to freely associate.
- The right to informed consent.
While many of our natural rights and freedoms have been under attack for many years, such as:
- The right to speak freely
- The right to self-defence
- The right of equal access to the justice system, and trial by jury.
- The right to property, and to keep the fruits of one's labour.
All of these actions by government to curtail our rights are serious crimes under our constututional common-law.
The government's sole purpose is to uphold the law, but instead it has misused it's power to make itself unaccountable, and to destroy the law.
So if falls upon us, the British people, to bring order back to our country.
We aim to do the following:
- We will create a new political party with a single policy: to enact VETO legislation according to the blueprint outlined here.
- If elected, this party will enact only this one, single policy, and will then stand-down and call a new general election.
